This project was initiated due to the inadequacy of the existing county hospital, which no longer met modern standards in terms of infrastructure, circulation flow, quality of care, and most importantly, patient safety. The outdated facility posed potential risks, including exposure to malpractice, highlighting the urgent need for a new, state-of-the-art medical center.
The structural solution includes an infrastructure made up of a general slab foundation and a basement, while the superstructure consists of reinforced concrete frames, providing both strength and adaptability.
Several key challenges were addressed during design and construction:
The basement level was positioned below the groundwater table, requiring advanced waterproofing solutions and continuous site drainage throughout construction.
The structural system includes walls only at the vertical circulation points, allowing for maximum interior flexibility to accommodate future spatial reconfigurations.
The project also involved designing green roof areas on top of smaller buildings, incorporating soil layers ranging from 1.0 to 2.5 meters, integrating sustainability and aesthetics into the medical campus.
